Wildflower Nursery was established in 2004 near the Hartbeespoortdam by Dr. Johan Wentzel, who is a geohydrologist by profession and his wife Annette, a facilitator of national scientific programmes.

Most plants in the nursery, suitable to Highveld conditions, were grown from seed collected in the wild.

Currently the nursery stocks approximately 100,000 indigenous plants of 400 different species of which most are adapted to Highveld conditions and are waterwise.

Wildflower Nursery supplies plants to retail nurseries and landscape architects and contractors.
